About
Heini Susanne is a Finnish Director with a special interest in conveying emotion visually. Heini's style is character and story-driven and chosen to fit each individual project.
Heini has a MA Directing degree from Met Film School at Ealing Studios, London as well as a Certificate of Achievement in Photography from Bellevue College, WA. She has worked in commercials, music videos and short films. Previous to directing Heini worked as an Assistant Director in advertising.
“Storytelling has always been a way to exist for me. From an early age, I've been taking photographs, writing screenplays and books – I even made a weekly newsletter featuring comics and stories for my family as a nine-year-old. For me, creating is a way to process and make sense of life.
Previous to working in the film industry, I was a professional dancer. My background in dance contributes to my interest in conveying emotion through film and movement. Further, dance training helped me cultivate a strong discipline while remaining in touch with my creativity.
Human emotion and psyche has always fascinated me and led to Minor studies in Psychology. I aim to create work that rings true and leaves its viewer affected in some way.“
Heini is currently working between London and Helsinki.
